Why natural foods are always best for weight loss

There are a great many benefits to eating natural, unprocessed foods, and some of them might surprise you.
Eating natural food sounds like an obvious piece of health advice, but some people think it’s just a cliche, and that as long as you’re exercising enough, you can eat what you like. This is wrong in so many ways.
First of all, remember that natural foods give your body the nutrition it’s designed to need. Our digestive systems didn’t evolve to deal with processed sugars and synthetic flavourings, and these cause all kinds of imbalances and upsets. Some people find that reducing the quantity of processed food they eat changes they way they feel, both inside and out!
It’s also important to consider that fat isn’t the enemy, as long as it’s the right kind of fat. Healthy, natural saturated fats are one of the foodstuffs that your body knows how to handle. Low-fat processed foods contain refined or artificial sugars but although these might seem like a more sensible option, they stay in your system for a lot longer and can do damage over time. Real fats can be processed and broken down more effectively.
Shopping locally is a great way to ensure you choose healthy natural foods. Don’t just drive to the supermarket; take some time to go to the greengrocer’s – you’ll get some exercise too. It’s also worth finding out where the farmer’s markets are in your area. By supporting local growers, you’ll increase your chances of finding a great range of natural foods.
