You don’t have to make yourself miserable in order to be healthier. A few smart steps can make the process of getting fit a pleasure.

If you’re going to a gym, remember that you don’t have to look fabulous before you walk in – that’s why you’ve gone there in the first place. You’re not being judged… everyone else is too busy worrying about themselves, so pluck up your courage and get started. Your confidence will grow over time.

Of course, you don’t have to go to a gym to become healthier. There are all kinds of exercises you can do at home, and if you’re a little self-conscious, this can be the perfect starting point. Find exercises that you enjoy, and gradually branch out into new ones as you feel better about your abilities.

Going for a run or a jog? Put some of your favourite music on and you won’t focus on every single step. Playing the right music can motivate you through different kinds of exercise. Many people have a dedicated “running” playlist, and it means you can get fitter while listening to all those cheesy classics from your teen years!
